About Us

A Regional Response to Local Needs

The East Central Intergovernmental Association is committed to working with member governments, their citizens, and others to empower communities and enhance the quality of life throughout the region. We assist local governments facing similar problems in cooperating to find solutions. Through ECIA membership, local governments share resources that they could not afford individually. The cooperative effort of neighboring governments also means greater efficiency and quality in solving regional problems.

The Main Goals of ECIA are

  • Maintaining accessibility to needed services for all citizens
  • Dispensing information to policy makers at the state and local levels
  • Supporting the maintenance of local control and decision making
  • Empowering communities to improve the quality of life for citizens
  • Distributing knowledge and creating awareness of regional opportunities
  • Providing a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas amongst member governments
  • Administering federal and state programs
  • Providing administrative and staffing expertise to member governments
  • Providing housing, employment, transportation and other services to people and entities
